Round House Kick Drill

This is a Round Kick Drill (a.k.a Roundhouse Kick). It is a fairly advanced drill, as one must learn proper balance, flexibility, and how to pivot the grounded foot correctly, which most beginners (and even some experienced martial artists) fail to do.
The "grabbing" during the first half of the drill is necessary to teach you to re-chamber before each repeat, for additional power. The other half of the drill, where you deliver 5 kicks consecutively, without grabbing, is for the practical application.
After you learn how to balance and pivot properly, you will quickly find that it is more difficult to grab your ankle in the first half of the drill than it is to just deliver repeat round kicks. It is because it requires greater focus, balance, and stability, which all lead to greater performance.
